Swiss linguist and father of semiotics to the Western World.

In contrast to Peirce, he said that the sign is composed of two elements:
a SIGNIFIER: the form of the sign, and
a SIGNIFIED: the concept of the sign.
This is known as the DYADIC
(two-sided) concept.

The signifier (in terms of a sound-image identity) is the psychological imprint of the sound DOLLAR or its synonyms.

The signified is the mental concept of the DOLLAR.
