My Río Proyect

“My Río Proyect” has been called a poetic critique that forces the viewer to reevaluate the meaning of geographical borders. Taking as its main subject the Río Grand river (Río Bravo), the work makes use of monetary elements and symbols along with the cross cultural dialect of spanglish: a mixture of Spanish and English commonly used along the border between México and The United States. The result is a mixture of conflicting ideologies that make the audience reflect, laugh and share their own views about the international border.

The original project consists of nine panels (60” x 42”) printed with an inkjet plotter on canvas paper. The project was presented in 2002 as part of my Master’s thesis show.
